Here’s a fun and interactive program to take young students on an introductory museum adventure! When snow blanketed the ground, snowplows were only a dream and before the age of the automobile, how did we get from place to place? What did we need to make any journey, short or long, safe and comfortable? What did people and horses need when they were traveling in the cold? Participants discover what it took to embark on a wintertime journey in this imaginative, interactive program. NOTE: This program is available only from November to February.

Activities include: Investigating and comparing methods and objects necessary to travel in times past and contemporary; sitting in a 19th Century sleigh; learning about horseshoes, creating a horse-themed craft to take home.

This program meets the following New York State Learning Standards: Social Studies #1; English Language Arts #1, Mathematics, Science and Technology #1; The Arts Standard #1.
