OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUTH!! |

For
ages 11 to 13 years:
The Harness Horse Youth
Foundation is accepting applications for the 2006 Harness Racing Youth
League. Level 1 is the introductory five-day, four-night program for
ages 11, 12 and 13 to learn about harness racing in a camp filled with
fun and hands-on activities. Harness Racing Youth
League - Level 1 events are designed for young people who have
little or no knowledge about harness racing.

Level 1 events will take
place at various locations throughout the summer, including The Meadows,

ages 14 to 16 years: Hands-on harness racing
weekend for kids ages 14 to 16, June 23-25 at the home of the Little
Brown Jug, Delaware, Ohio. Application deadline is May 15, 2006.

For ages up to 16 years: Marie Hill Youth Writing Award contest, with prizes totaling $1000! Kids age 16 and younger are welcome to enter. Subject of entry should be harness racing; fiction and non-fiction accepted. Deadline for entries is May 31, 2006. For ages up to 16 years: The United States Trotting Association’s Hoof Beats Youth Publication is accepting submissions from kids on any subject relating to harnessing racing! We
want your stories! Do you have a favorite horse that deserves time in the spotlight? Do you have a favorite harness racing memory you would like to share? Do you have a funny horse
joke to tell us?
Hoof Beats magazine is starting to gather material for a youth-focused publication and we want you to be involved. We are inviting any and all horse-loving kids aged 16 and under to send those stories to us. We will also answer any questions you have about harness racing or harness horses, so please, ask away! The publication will be sent
to all USTA youth members. Maximum length of submission
is 350 words. If you send photos, Remember, USTA Youth membership, for those 18 years and younger, is free of charge! Please feel free to pass this information along to anyone who may be interested.
